日本モルック協会 代表理事 八ツ賀秀一
2011年、フィンランドから30セットのモルックを日本に持ち込んでから15年が経ちました。「老若男女、障がいの有無に関わらず、あらゆる人が同じフィールドで楽しめるスポーツを日本に」――その想いは、今も変わることなく私たちの原点です。
おかげさまで、北は北海道から南は沖縄まで、全国各地で「モルックしてます！」という声が聞こえるようになりました。地域登録団体の皆さま、各種会員の皆さま、そして多くの支援者の方々のご尽力により、日本のモルック人口は着実に増え続けています。心より感謝申し上げます。
新たなステージへ
15年の歩みを経て、日本モルック協会は今、新たなステージに立っています。2025年には中長期計画を策定し、単なる競技団体としてだけでなく、透明性が高く、地域と共に歩む組織へと進化することを決意いたしました。
モルックの最大の魅力は、その包摂性にあります。多くの遊び・スポーツでは、子どもと大人、男性と女性、健常者と障がい者が同じフィールドで一緒にプレイすることは困難です。しかしモルックは、ハンディに関係なく対等に楽しめ、職業やバックグラウンドも問わず、初対面でもコミュニケーションを育むことができます。棒を投げる技術と緻密な戦略が織りなす奥深さ、一投ごとに変化する戦況の面白さ――これらすべてが、人と人をつなぎ、笑顔を生み出します。
私たちが目指すもの
日本モルック協会は、以下の3つの目標を掲げています：
1. 世界大会の2度目の日本開催
2024年の北海道函館市での世界大会の開催実績を活かし、さらに充実した国際大会を日本で実現します。世界中のモルックプレイヤーが再び日本に集い、競技の発展と国際交流を深める場を創出します。
2. オリンピック種目への採用――真のインクルーシブな競技の実現
現在、オリンピックとパラリンピックには垣根が存在します。しかし、モルックには障がいの有無に関わらず同じルールで競える包摂性があります。私たちは、モルックをオリンピック種目とすることで、パラ選手も健常者と同じ舞台で対等に競い合える、真にインクルーシブなスポーツの在り方を世界に示したいと考えています。これは、スポーツにおける新たな価値観の創造に他なりません。
3. 同じフィールドで子どもから大人、シルバー世代や障がい者が一緒にプレイできる環境作り
全国どこでも、誰でもモルックに触れられる機会を創出します。公園での体験会、学校・企業での導入、高齢者施設でのレクリエーション、パラスポーツとしての展開など、多様な場面でのモルック活動を支援します。日常の中にモルックがある社会を目指します。
組織としての成長と責任
急速な拡大の中で、私たちは組織運営における課題にも直面してきました。規則変更のプロセス、意思決定の透明性、利益相反への対応など、改善すべき点を真摯に受け止めています。
2026年は、ガバナンス改革を実行し、すべてのステークホルダーの皆さまに信頼される組織へと進化する年と位置づけています。理事会運営の透明化、地域組織との定期対話、会員の皆さまへの情報開示強化など、具体的な取り組みを推進してまいります。
地域との協働
各地域組織の皆さまは、日本モルック協会の最も重要なパートナーです。地域の特性に応じた活動を尊重し、本部と地域が対等な立場で協働できる関係を築いてまいります。皆さまの声に真摯に耳を傾け、共に日本のモルックを育てていく姿勢を大切にします。
モルックがもたらす価値
医療従事者として、またパラスポーツ医として、私はスポーツが持つ健康増進と社会包摂の力を日々実感しています。モルックは、運動機能の維持・向上だけでなく、世代を超えた交流、地域コミュニティの活性化、そして何より「誰もが対等である」という社会の実現にも貢献できるスポーツです。
モルックを通じて、一人でも多くの方が健康で充実した生活を送り、笑顔あふれるコミュニティが日本中に生まれること、そして障がいの有無という垣根のない社会が実現することを願っています。
皆さまと共に
私たちの活動は、会員の皆さま、地域登録団体の皆さま、協賛企業・団体の皆さま、そして何よりモルックを愛するすべての方々に支えられています。
全スタッフの総力をもって、モルックの魅力を日本の皆さんに伝え、3つの目標実現に向けて真摯に取り組んでまいります。私たちの活動が、皆さま一人ひとりの幸福な生活へつながっていく――その強い想いを持って、これからもモルックに関わるあらゆる事業に邁進していく所存です。

Message from the Representative Director (2026 Edition)
Fifteen years have passed since I first brought 30 sets of Mölkky from Finland to Japan in 2011. Our founding vision—“To bring to Japan a sport that can be enjoyed equally by people of all ages, genders, and abilities, regardless of disability”—remains unchanged at the very heart of everything we do.
Thanks to the tremendous efforts of our local registered groups, all our members, and countless supporters, the joyful sound of “We’re playing Mölkky!” now echoes from Hokkaido in the north to Okinawa in the south. The Mölkky community in Japan continues to grow steadily. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Stepping onto a New Stage
After 15 years of steady progress, the Japan Mölkky Association now stands at the threshold of a new era. In 2025, we formulated our medium- and long-term plan, committing ourselves to evolving not just as a competitive organization, but as a transparent, community-rooted body that walks hand-in-hand with people across the country.
The greatest charm of Mölkky lies in its deep inclusivity. In many games and sports, it’s difficult for children and adults, men and women, people with and without disabilities to play together on equal terms. Yet Mölkky allows everyone to compete fairly regardless of physical differences. It brings together people from any background or profession—even complete strangers—and fosters genuine communication. The subtle skill of throwing the Mölkky, the depth of strategic thinking, and the ever-changing excitement of each throw—these elements connect people and create smiles.
What We Aspire to Achieve
The Japan Mölkky Association has set three clear goals:
- Hosting the World Championships in Japan for the second time
Building on the success of the 2024 World Championships in Hakodate, Hokkaido, we will create an even more exceptional international event. We look forward to welcoming Mölkky players from around the world once again, advancing the sport’s growth and deepening global friendship. - Inclusion as an Olympic sport — realizing true inclusivity in competition
Today, the Olympics and Paralympics remain separate. But Mölkky uses the exact same rules for everyone, regardless of ability. By working toward its recognition as an Olympic event, we hope to show the world a new model of sport: one where athletes with disabilities can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with able-bodied athletes on the same stage, competing as equals. This would represent the creation of a fresh set of values in the world of sport. - Creating environments where children, adults, seniors, and people with disabilities can all play together on the same field
We aim to make Mölkky accessible to anyone, anywhere in the country. Through experience events in parks, introductions in schools and companies, recreational programs in senior care facilities, and development as a para-sport, we will support Mölkky activities in every setting. Our dream is a society where Mölkky is simply part of everyday life.
Growth and Responsibility as an Organization
During this period of rapid expansion, we have also faced challenges in organizational management: improving the process for rule changes, increasing transparency in decision-making, and addressing potential conflicts of interest, among others. We take these issues seriously and are committed to addressing them. We have designated 2026 as the year of governance reform—working to become an organization that truly earns the trust of every stakeholder through concrete actions: greater transparency in board operations, regular dialogue with regional organizations, and enhanced information disclosure to members.
Collaboration with Local Communities
The local Mölkky groups and communities are Japan Mölkky Association’s most vital partners. We deeply respect the unique character of activities shaped by each region and are dedicated to building truly equal, cooperative relationships between headquarters and these communities. We will listen carefully to your voices and grow Mölkky together with you.
The Value Mölkky Brings
As a healthcare professional and a doctor specializing in para-sports, I experience every day the power of sport to promote health and social inclusion. Mölkky not only helps maintain and improve physical function, but also encourages intergenerational exchange, revitalizes local communities, and above all contributes to realizing a society where “everyone is truly equal.”
Through Mölkky, I sincerely hope that more and more people will lead healthy, fulfilling lives, that joyful communities will flourish across Japan, and that we will move closer to a society free from barriers based on ability.
